Regions
In Old Light, the galaxy is grouped into named regions of around 150 sectors, varying in size, and every region ranks the empires inside it.
A region is a block of whole sectors. Its borders follow sector borders, so a sector always belongs to exactly one region. Each region has its own name, such as Kethar Region.
Where are the regions?
Region borders are the solid lines on the galaxy view. Where a region border runs, it takes the place of the dashed sector line. The galaxy map shows them across the whole galaxy, with each region's name.
To open a region, use the Region row when inspecting a system. The sector view and the galaxy map info box carry the same row.
How is a region ranked?
Every region keeps its own leaderboard. Empires are ranked by how many sectors in the region they hold the Sector Bonus for, and ties go to the empire with more systems there. The list also shows each empire's score from its systems inside the region.
An empire appears on a region's leaderboard once it holds a sector there or owns a system there. Because sector bonuses follow territory, a region's ranking shifts every time borders move.
Every region with an owned system in it also has a public page that anyone can read without logging in, listing its leaderboard and its sectors.
